Eighties-inspired pop rock seems to be all the rage lately, with bands sprouting left and right, making themselves heard on the radio and reaching out to gig goers in and out of the metro. If you’re wondering which bands are worth checking out, listen to The Adamant, which recently released a single entitled Unpredictable.

Unpredictable is about the confusion that comes with falling in love, being lost in the endless cycle of emotional uncertainties. This was inspired by young love, fears, bliss, and naive relational beliefs,” says lead guitarist Sam Marquez, who co-wrote the song together with rhythm guitarist Matt Pacia.

The Adamant is a Manila-based pop-rock band formed in 2014. After a brief hiatus and several line-up changes, the band’s current line-up consists of Elijah Villa on vocals, Matt Pacia on rhythm guitar and vocals, Sam Marquez on lead guitar, Clark Cunanan on bass, and Poch Barretto on drums. Sam also plays for another pop-rock band, One Click Straight.

Their Facebook page says their music is a mix of alternative, dance, and indie rock–mainly influenced by bands such as All Time Low, Arctic Monkeys, Atlas Genius, Good Charlotte, Jet, Oasis, Panic! At The Disco, Relient K, Phoenix, The 1975, and Young The Giant.

The Adamant is currently working on their first EP, which is set to be released in January 2018. In the meantime, you can stream Unpredictable via Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/6lr4XoVCsGHzX4LZtbn9FP
