“Life happened,” says Lovecore vocalist Cy Sorongon when asked what took the band so long to release their first full-length album Funk n’ Roll. Other bands would have stopped and quit, but for Lovecore, life goes on.

Cy, guitarist Reg Gutierrez, bassist Frame Ong, and drummer John Collao make up Lovecore’s current lineup. After periods of downtime in between several lineup changes, the group is now set to make their mark on the local scene with the recent launch of their album at Checkpoint Rock Bar in Parañaque City.

Combining old and new material, Funk n’ Roll is sure to elicit nostalgia among those who have known the band since its humble beginnings in UP Los Baños, and to give the younger generation a taste of what good, old rock and roll sounds like.
